Siam Shopping

The jewel in the crown of the city’s shopping centres – Siam Paragon – completes the strip of malls that begins at MBK and fringes the square, often referred to as ‘the battleground of the malls’. These are where Bangkok earns its stripes as an international fashion hub, with a profusion of leading designer flagship stores inside

Siam, like the city in which it is located, is an area of contrast. True to Bangkok’s unified configuration the area is a collaboration of internationally renowned high-end brands and independent traders where price scales go across the board.

Adjacent to the world-class malls is a dense warren of boutiques, Siam Square. Siam also holds the dubious honour of being the most expensive place to rent land in Bangkok. It is, to the City of Angels, what Bond Street is to London and Fifth Avenue to New York, while still possessing the innovative atmosphere of Camden Town or Soho, NYC.

MBK Shopping Center

Short-named MBK, the multi-storey Mah Boon Krong is probably Bangkok's most legendary shopping mall, popular with both tourists and locals. Eight floors packed with 2,000 shops that sell everything from clothing, fashion accessories, handbags, leather products and luggage to furniture, mobile phones, electric appliances, cameras, stationery and DVD's (and then some).

Siam Paragon Shopping Centre

From a sporty yellow Ferrari to a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes straight from the set of Sex and the City, Siam Paragon is a shopping mall without rival in Southeast Asia when it comes to luxury goods. This shopping and entertainment complex is an upmarket, five-storey colossus with 500,000 square metres of retail space...

Siam Center Bangkok

One of the oldest malls in Thailand, but also one of the most vital. Situated slap-bang in the centre of what is called 'the battleground of the malls' - and easily dwarfed by the bigger and flashier malls - few know that Siam Center was there before all the others. Constructed in 1976, this original looks good for her age, thanks to the panoply of bright and playful shops and the ever-younger and fresher clientele, expending their reeling energies and pocket money...

Siam Discovery

This trendy shopping complex is still a favourite among Bangkok's younger and fashionable crowds. Opposite Siam Square, this modern centre adjoins Siam Centre and showcases a good selection of shops, restaurants and designer fashion outlets.

Expect popular local fashion designers and global brand names as well as European established names, as well as a number of home decor and hip interior design stores. Guess? DKNY, Shiseido, Mac, Swarovski and many more. Asia Books and Habitat have branches here too. A huge cinema complex is located on the top floor, while the ground floor houses popular coffee hangouts including Starbucks and Au Bon Pain.

Siam Square

It is a well-known fact in Bangkok that if you want to know what is 'in', head on down to Siam Square. A dense warren of boutiques, cafes and market stalls selling various apparel; this is where fashionistas get a real taste of alternative style and shopping
Something of an open-air shopping complex that radiates a feeling of creativity.

Siam Square is in essence where trends both emerge and are created, an epicenter of inspiration in Bangkok. This area stretches from Rama 1 Road down to the Chulalongkorn University Campus and from Phayathai Road over to Henri Dunant, and is a popular haunt of university students, media types and Bangkok’s ‘bright young things’.

The Bonanza Mall

Situated across from MBK, is it popular with students and teenagers in search of funky accessories and clothing at affordable prices. Walk across the Skybridge on the 2nd/floor and you will find yourself in this small and crowded shopping plaza.
